christian couple deliver artistic ministry to toddlers
Seventy-year-old married couple Jeff and Anne Posner are happily spending their retirement sharing God’s love through the ministry of music and art around the globe.
This week they were in Barbados sharing with several groups. Today they visited the Hephzibag Nursery and Preschool in Brittons Hill, St Michael where they donated art for the children and spent some time teaching the boys and girls about Jesus.
The couple was commissioned for missionary work by St Mark’s Lutheran Church and Huntsville First United Methodist Church in the US in 2015.
“We started the ministry work and we have both enjoyed sailing for 30 years and decided that when we retired, we [would] go sailing. The good Lord led us into the opportunity to take that around the world. Basically, we feel this is where God has been leading us and we are trying to do what he wants us to do,” Jeff Posner said, adding that they were drawn to the newly opened nursery and pre-school by the power of the Holy Spirit.
“When we contacted people on the island, we asked where they might be opportunities to do some of our ministry. [We received] Dr Durant’s name as a point of contact, spoke with him and discussed possible opportunities that will be useful for the people here in Barbados,” he said.
The couple coloured and prayed with the nursery students, told them about Jesus’ grace and love and sang Yes Jesus Loves Me and I Got The Joy, Joy, Joy.
Anne Posner said she was blessed to have the opportunity to minister about the love that Jesus Christ has for all through her art and music.
“Today, we came to this nursery school and each day this week we have been going to elder care centers, day care centers, the homeless shelter for men, a group of youth in the park and it is always about Jesus. We teach them John 3:16, Jesus’ most important commandments which are to love your God and love your neighbor as yourself. Those are the three Bible verses that we impress on all people that we do music and art ministry with,” Posner added.
Her husband Jeff said they hope they had touched the lives of the people [they had met] and inspired them to believe in Jesus Christ and the importance of loving our “neighbours as ourselves.”
Apostle Durant said the Posner’s ministry had inspired him. He revealed that the newly established Hephzibah Nursery and Preschool will be officially opened in the upcoming weeks. (LG)
