Hundreds are today attending the Barbados Workers Union annual May Day parade.
The celebrations began this morning with prayers and the laying of wreaths at monument of National Hero Frank Walcott on Culloden Road, St Michael.
The tributes were led off by veteran trade unionist and former general secretary of the Barbados Workers Union Sir Roy Trotman and BWU president Linda Brooks.
Workers and government representatives also paid tribute to Sir Frank, a Barbados pioneer trade unionist.
This was followed by the parade that proceeded along Pine Road, Tweedside Road, around the James Tudor Roundabout, Roebuck Street, Crumpton Street, St. Michael’s Row, Probyn Street and end at Brown’s Beach, Bay Street.
At Brown’s Beach this afternoon, BWU General Secretary Toni Moore will deliver the May Day address, which will be preceded by a performance by Cultural Ambassador The Mighty Gabby.
