Rico Akeem Nurse, of no fixed place of abode, consented to his remand at the Black Rock, St Michael institution until May 7, following a request made by his uncle.
However, Nurse pleaded not guilty to stealing and a purse and $25 cash belonging to Shakeyla Deane on March 15, as well as to possession of cannabis and a knife while on Nurse Drive Road, St Michael.
Sergeant Edwin Pinder objected to bail for the accused on the grounds that he has no fixed place of abode and is already on bail from another court.
However, his uncle told Magistrate Douglas Frederick that the accused “needed some help” given his family background.
In his own application, Nurse told the court he was willing to go to the mental hospital as “I does go through a lot and I have a lot going through my mind”.
