Kirk Humphrey, the Barbados Labour Party candidate challenging incumbent Prime Minister Freundel Stuart for the St Michael South seat is all set to outline his plans for the constituency, which will be revealed at the party’s manifesto launch on Thursday.
The first-time candidate however told reporters following his nomination at the Graydon Sealy Secondary School yesterday that he first wants to create harmony within the community.
“I think that is one of the most important things first of all, is to bridge the divide that exists in the community between Bayland and Britton’s Hill; within Bayland and within Britton’s Hill,” he said.
Another major concern is the absence of street lights in most of the constituency.
“It you were to walk through it at night, you literally cannot see where you are going. I’ve already started a lighting programme. I intend to expand it [because] there are a number of people who feel unsafe, especially women.”
He said that the issue of flooding would also be addressed in the manifesto.
