Eighty constituents of Christ Church South were yesterday treated to a scenic ride and lunch at the Animal Flower Cave thanks to Democratic Labour Party (DLP) candidate John Boyce.
The elder folk journeyed through St Philip and St Joseph in luxury tour buses before finally arriving in St Lucy.
It was here that the senior citizens got the opportunity to enjoy some of their favourite dishes such as macaroni pie, rice, chicken and fish while taking in the beautiful scene and nice sea breeze of the north.
Boyce said the annual outdoor event was part of the program put in place by the council in his constituency.
“We took time out to fete the elderly from our constituency through the council program. We are really happy that we could bring these lovely ladies and gentlemen to this beautiful part of Barbados, the Animal Flower Cave for lunch. This is something we try to do regularly, especially every year and I am really happy that we are able to do this event.”
In addition, he also presented awards to the women who were present in honor of Mother’s Day on Sunday.
“Because we are so close to Mothers Day, I will be representing a token to all the ladies in appreciation and acknowledgment. Our mothers and women are very dear to us.”
He told Barbados TODAY the response he got from the constituents was very heartening.
“The constituents are always happy to have a day out for any good reason. Yes, they may go to the supermarket or take a stroll or to the doctor but we don’t often get out to take a drive around Barbados.” (AGB)
