“I love smoking. It is very exciting.”
That was the response of 26-year-old Atiba Oneal Farrell, of no fixed place of abode, when asked by Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court today if he had anything to say in his defence.
He immediately drew the ire of Cuffy-Sargeant, who hastily remanded him to HMP Dodds until June 12.
However, while pleading not guilty to robbing Tameisha Simmons of an $800 bracelet and to damaging a visor belonging to Derrick Odle on May 8, 2018, the known offender admitted to having apparatus in his possession for use of cocaine on May 12.
Prosecutor Sergeant Cameron Gibbons told the court that police were on patrol when they spotted Farrell, who was wanted for questioning in connection with prior offences.
During a search of his right front pants pocket, officers found a bottle with a hole in the bottom that contained white residue.
Asked to give account of it, Farrell replied, “That is my smoke pipe.”
