Thirty-two-year-old Dwayne Omar Ward alias Lil Yosh of Dayrells Hill, Christ Church who was shot at Maxwell Plains, Christ Church yesterday remains in a stable condition at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
According to police public relations officer Acting Inspector Rodney Inniss, lawmen were in Maxwell Plains carrying out investigations into a report they received. They had approached a resident to make an enquiry when they heard several loud explosions coming from the direction of a group of people liming in the area.
Inniss said the officers took cover near a house in the area, but as they returned to the road, a car sped towards them.
“The police officers fired shots at the vehicle to protect themselves. The motorcar struck a parked motor truck and came to a sudden halt,” the PRO said in a statement.
He said police then discovered that the driver, Ward, had been injured, and they “immediately summoned the ambulance”.
Ward was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance under police escort.
