A 24-year-old general worker, who admitted to hitting the mother of his child, will spend a week at Dodds prison after he was unable to find a surety to post his bail.
Terelle Devon Leacock, of Gills Road, Greenfield, St Michael, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant to assaulting Shakira Bayley on June 14, occasioning her actual bodily harm.
The police report revealed that the two were involved in a dispute yesterday, which resulted in Leacock pushing Bayley against a wall causing her to hit her head. He also wrapped his hand around her neck but she was able to escape.
“I am sorry for putting my hands on her,” Leacock told the magistrate who then adjourned the matter in order to allow Bayley to appear in court.
However, up to the end of the day’s session Leacock had no one to sign bail on his behalf and as such was remanded to the St Philip penal institution until June 22.
