A 31-year-old man today shouldered full responsibility for a drug offence, despite being charged with another man.
Nicholas Kristen D’Angelo Gooding, 28, of My Lord’s Hill, St Michael, told the court that his co accused, 31-year-old Benjamin Carlyle Walcott, of Eight Avenue, New Orleans, St Michael, did “not need to be in here [since] I take full responsibility [for the crime]”.
However, Walcott, who had first pleaded not guilty to the charge, had a change of heart and admitted to the offence. He was therefore reprimanded and discharged with a warning from Magistrate Douglas Frederick to keep away from bad company.
Gooding meanwhile was fined $350 forthwith and avoided a week in prison when he paid the money.
“I apologize. I am very unlucky or maybe in the wrong place. The decisions I make are not always good,” he said after he was caught with 38 Ziploc bags containing vegetable matter in his possession on July 2.
