A career burglar was today remanded to prison when he appeared in the No.2 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court charged with having sex with a minor.
Tremaine Kadeem Lawrence, of Parish Land, Christ Church, who has already amassed several burglary and theft convictions at the age of 22, was not required to plead to the indictable offence, which allegedly occurred sometime in August last year.
Prosecutor Station Sergeant Samuel Hinds objected to bail, citing the defendant’s antecedents in addition to an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
He also informed Magistrate Douglas Frederick that the accused had easy access to the complainant. Mitigating on his own behalf, Lawrence told court that he was only released from prison two years ago and did not think it fair that he should be remanded.
However, Frederick agreed with the prosecutor, explaining that Lawrence’s failure to attend court on another charge, precluded from being considered a good candidate for bail. Lawrence was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison Dodds until August 3, 2018.
