The Soca Princess came and gave a performance that was Sweet Fuh Days at Soca on De Hill. 33-year-old Patrice Roberts rocked the stage at the annual soca event held at the Farley Hill National Park on Sunday.
She told Bajan Vibes, “It is amazing, it is always a pleasure to be here, Bajans have a special love for me and they have been supporting me… Bajans have been my biggest fan base.”
Patrice is no stranger to performing in Barbados. “Every single year I look forward to performing at Soca on De Hill. This year, the sky is the limit for team and me. I am about to do big things and I am looking forward to performing at Soca on De Hill 2019,” she said.
When asked about prospects of a collaboration with any Barbadian artistes Patrice said, “Of course, I don’t say no to music and as long as it is great music I am open. As far as doing a collaboration with Bajan artistes, nothing has come to me yet but I’m open to it.”
Patrice is really becoming a Big Girl Now announcing big plans to launch into the international market as she prepares to go on tour.
“I’m speaking it into the Universe – break out into the international market; I am working with people like Chris Martin, an African artiste, and I will be going on tour,” she said, adding that it was a long time in coming. “But timing is everything because sometimes you want to do something and it isn’t the right time. But definitely this year, the sky is the limit for me, I am about to do big things,” she told Bajan Vibes.
Apart from dominating the soca scene with her hit song, Sweet Fuh Days, Patrice is a mother and is not only focused on singing but also on launching a fashion line. “I am about to launch my daughter’s baby line. I also have [the] Lily Foundation [through which] I teach her how not to be selfish but to give to the less fortunate,” she added.
The soca sensation said the foundation will encourage others to give. “I think we as artistes work so hard and we forget to give. I want to mould my daughter and teach her how to give. It was hard for me before I had her. All I needed was to give, give myself, give my fans; so I’m telling her it is not just about you, but give.”
