Walter Oneal Prescod’s stay in prison has been extended for at least another two weeks.
Prescod, one of three men charged with possession, intent to supply, trafficking and the importation of 267 lbs or 121.4 kilogrammes of cannabis with an estimated street value of $534, 160 on July 23, returned to court today after spending the weekend at HMP Dodds.
Having been granted $450, 000 bail by Magistrate Douglas Frederick when he appeared last Friday, Prescod had expected to find a surety to stand on his behalf.
However, his wife told the court that although she had been able to find one surety, it was not for the total amount.
She said she was still searching for another surety and would need a further two weeks.
As a result, Prescod was remanded until August 15.
His two co-accused, 56-year-old Christopher Glenn Rogers and 62-year-old Arthur Charles Herbert, who are both directors in Goddard Enterprises, were released on $400, 000 bail when they appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court last Friday.
