A Jamaican man, who turned up for the Rise event at Kensington Oval over the weekend not only missed the show, but also had to part with $350.
Magistrate Douglas Frederick imposed the fine on Andre Rodrego Brown, of Paddock Road, Dalkeith, St Michael, today after he pleaded guilty to possession of 40 grammes of cannabis on July 31.
Sergeant Vernon Waithe told the court that Brown was being searched by security at the gate when the illegal substance was found in his pocket.
“This is a lil weed,” he told police then when asked at the time to account for the contraband.
However, he apologized for committing the offence when he appeared in the No.1 District ‘A’ Magistrate’s Court this morning.
“It was a mistake. It will never happen again,” Brown said before the fine was paid.
