A 25-year-old man, who pleaded guilty to theft, will spend the next three weeks at the Psychiatric Hospital.
Daniel Denaro Reece, of 1st Avenue, Bank Hall, St Michael, stole two lunch cakes and a pack of biscuits on July 23, belonging to Michael Edwards.
According to the prosecutor, Reece walked into Rubis Service Station located on Barbarees Hill and picked up the items.
He then walked towards the cashier but instead of stopping, dashed towards the exit and ran onto Brewsters Road in the direction of Eagle Hall, St Michael.
Police were called in and Reece was arrested nine days later on Emancipation Day.
Today, in his defence, he told Magistrate Douglas Frederick that he was a cocaine addict.
Reece, who is known to the law court, will be assessed for his suitability for drug rehabilitation.
He returns to the No.1 District ‘A’ Magistrate’s Court on August 24.
