Accused of having bogus currency in his possession John Nathaniel Bancroft lost his freedom today after failing to appear in court.
The Odessa McClean Drive, St Michael, resident, who is in his 40s, is accused of having five bad $100 notes in his possession on Oct 21, 2016 and two forged $50 notes on October 31, 2015.
He was out on bail on both offences.
But when he went before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant today he was informed that a warrant had been issued for his arrest due to his failure to attend his appointed court dates.
“It was an honest mistake. I had today as my court date, it was just a mix up ma’am,” the accused said.
But the magistrate was having none of it, informing him that he would be placed on remand.
“Ma’am, please Ma’am, I now started a job, Ma’am,” Bancroft said before being led away to the awaiting prison van.
He is now certain to appear before a magistrate on September 11.
