A national cleanup of this island’s highways and byways will include the removal from next week of illegally parked vehicles being advertised for sale.
In a statement today, the Ministry of Transport, Works and Maintenance pointed out that this practice was in contravention of the Road Traffic Act.
“The Minister of Transport, Works and Maintenance Dr William Duguid is asking all people who try to advertise vehicles by parking them on the highway to desist, from this activity.
“The ministry will be carrying out a programme of removing cars that are parked on the highway from next week,” he said.
Duguid added that, “these vehicles are a hazard to other road users and this practice must be brought to an end”.
There will be a cost attached to reclaiming vehicles that have been removed. (MTW)
