A Spooners Hill, St Michael man got an in-residence civics lesson, courtesy a weekend at Her Majesty’s Prison Dodds.
John Maxwell, of Paradise Road, learned the hard way that a summons to appear in court is not an invitation.
The prosecutor had informed Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant that a warrant had been issued for his arrest as he had failed to appear in court since December 2016 over traffic offence charges dating back ten months before and pending in the District ‘A’ Traffic Court.
“You understand what the circumstances are when you don’t come to court?” the magistrate asked Maxwell when he appeared this afternoon in shackles.
“Yes ma’am,” Maxwell responded, before he was given a September 17 date to appear before the Traffic Court, with a warning that should he abscond again he may find himself learning the same lesson all over again.
