Hurricane Isaac has weakened to a tropical storm but forecasters expect it will regain hurricane strength when it approaches the Lesser Antilles later this week.
In its 11 p.m. bulletin, the Barbados Meteorological Services said Isaac was located near 14.5 degrees north or 46.9 degrees west or about 850 miles east of Barbados.
Isaac is moving westward at 16 miles per hour with maximum sustained winds near 70 miles per hour.
The Met office says on its present track, the center of Isaac is expected to pass 150 miles (240km) north of Barbados early on Thursday.
The forecasters added that the island is likely to experience some scattered showers, isolated thunderstorms and occasional gusty winds on Wednesday resulting from an outer band associated with Isaac.
In addition, Barbados will experience heavy showers and occasional gusty winds well into Friday as Isaac travels westward into the eastern Caribbean Sea.
