Some Barbadians woke up to power outages and downed power lines this morning, following the heavy rains and winds associated with the passage of Tropical Storm Kirk.
However, the Barbados Light & Power (BL&P) responded quickly by restoring power to some affected communities this morning.
The company said it was working to ensure power was restored in affected areas as soon as possible.
There were reports of power outages in some communities in the parishes of St George, St James, St Philip and fallen poles in parts of St Andrew, Christ Church and St Philip.
However, the BL&P said “our crews have been briefed and dispatched to ensure that we safely restore supply to those customers who were affected as a result of Tropical Storm Kirk”.
“We assure you that our crews are working safely to restore power to the affected areas,” the company added.
At around 11 a.m. the company had restored power to Kingsland and Ealing Grove in the parish of Christ Church and several communities in St George.
