Workers at the Psychiatric Hospital will receive outstanding wages by month end, Minister of Health and Wellness Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Bostic today assured.
Last week, General Secretary of the National Union of Public Workers Roslyn Smith told Barbados TODAY that nurses at the Black Rock facility had not been paid for up to six months.
Addressing a church service at the Abundant Life Assembly in Bank Hall to mark the start of Mental Health Month, Minister Bostic acknowledged there have been challenges with payment but disclosed that action has been taken to rectify the matter.
“Let me assure you that we have requested a list of all such persons throughout the entire health sector. This has reached me I have looked at it and I have forwarded it to the Ministry of Finance.
“On Thursday, a copy of that list will be delivered to the Prime Minister and we intend to resolve those issues by month end,” Bostic said, to a loud applause from the congregation which included management and staff of the Psychiatric Hospital.
