A flood watch is in effect for Barbados until noon Sunday, October 21.
According to the Barbados Meteorological Services a developing trough system in combination with the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) has been affecting the island over the past two days and are forecast to persist into the weekend.
The forecasters say the island will continue to experience overcast skies, outbreaks of moderate to heavy showers, periods of rain and occasional gusty winds.
Rainfall accumulations of one to inches have already been recorded in some parts of the island over the past two days and further accumulations of at least three to five inches are likely.
The Met officials advise workers in flood-prone areas to remain on alert and take the necessary precautions.
