Three teenagers – a 15-year-old and two 16-year-olds – were remanded into custody when they appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrate’s Court on charges under the Sexual Offences Act.
Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant remanded the 15-year-old to the Government Industrial School and the 16-year-olds to HMP Dodds until November 26 following for arguments for and against bail.
The 15-year-old is accused of having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl with her consent (statutory rape) on April 10 while one of the 16-year-old accused is charged with sending an electronic communication to the same girl that was indecent, while being reckless as to whether it caused her annoyance, inconvenience, distress or anxiety. That offence is alleged to have occurred between April 10 and 17.
The 16-year-olds are also accused of having sexual intercourse with another underage girl on September 15.
The students, two of whom were represented by attorneys, were not required to plead to the indictable charges.
