Prime Minister Mia Mottley began an official three-day visit to Suriname at the invitation of President of Suriname Desiré Bouterse on Wednesday.
Ms Mottley has underscored the importance of her visit, saying relations between the two countries would be strengthened.
“Closer cooperation with Suriname in the areas of trade and investment, agriculture, energy and education and training would be in Barbados’ interest. In addition, Suriname’s strategic position between Latin America and the Caribbean presents significant potential for exports from Barbados,” she said.
Noting the two countries shared similar goals, the Prime Minister said Suriname was focusing on removing identified weaknesses, for example, enacting more business-friendly legislation and improving the ease of setting up business.
Barbados and Suriname established diplomatic relations in March 1978. This friendship was strengthened in February 2005 with the signing of the Agreement for the Deepening of Bilateral Cooperation between both Governments.
This agreement provides for joint action in several areas, including trade and investment, agriculture, housing, the environment, education and training, science and technology, marine affairs, culture and sports. It also made provision for a Joint Commission to facilitate implementation of the agreement via the execution of projects.
Prime Minister Mottley is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Dr Jerome Walcott and Special Adviser to the Prime Minister on International Business, Ben Arrindell.
While the Prime Minister is on official business in Suriname, Minister of Housing, Lands and Rural Development, George Payne, will perform her functions.
George Payne back in the power chair acting as Prime Minister…hip hip hooray!
If anyone notices his head start to swell with glee in the future, one would know why. Mia went to Suriname, a country solid in cultural rituals. The main religion in Suriname is Christianity, followed by Hinduism and Islam. Some Christian groups also follow traditional African practices such as Obeah and Winti. Winti is a secret religion from West Africa. It recognizes a multitude of gods and ghosts, each having its own myths, rites, offerings, taboos(forbidden acts), and magical forces. So from now on, when we see George Payne talking a lot more in Parliament and not pouting at everything, a Surinamese fix up is working.
JOHNNY CROW..since GEORGE PAYNE acted on TWO occasions, by now you should have seen the TREND..hope now that your TAINTED MOUTHINGS on who ACTS and who is NOT ACTING should now be WIPED CLEAN from your mouth and flushed since you say that the STENCH of a DECAYING RAT which AWAKENS you EVERY MORNING will NOT stop you from going after that PRESTIGIOUS J…K….S of the day award….hee haw…hee haw.
JOHNSON CROW ..why you doan make use of the dildo when the morning come to relieve your tensions…that would STOP the SH8 you come here with when the sun rises.
