Government has issued a memorandum to Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Department with an offer of voluntary separation from the public service.
The memo, dated November 16, was issued by Head of the Civil Service Dr Louis Woodroffe.
“As part of its programme to modernise the public service and implement the Barbados Economic Recovery and Transformation (BERT) Programme, Government is contemplating offering a limited number of voluntary separation packages to permanently appointed public officers,” Woodroffe wrote in the memo.
The offer is being made to public officers in the following categories: General Worker, Stenographer/Typist, Clerk/Typist, Clerical Officer.
Woodroffe says officers who wish to exercise this option and leave the public service at this time, are invited to indicate their interest to the Permanent Secretary or Head of Department by Friday, November 23,2018.
“Details of the proposed package will be available shortly and will be discussed with Officers who express an interest,” he said, adding that Government reserves the right to accept or reject any indication of interest.
Woodroffe said that it should be noted that only a limited number of packages may be made available, and that the Chief Personnel Officer will make the determination on final offers.
