After more than seven hours, management of the state-owned Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) tonight concluded what both sides described as tough talks.
General Secretary of the BWU Toni Moore told reporters that agreement has been reached on the framework for retrenchments and CBC will now get back to the union with the names of those who are being sent home.
Moore also disclosed that of the 116 workers originally identified for retrenchment, the corporation has now agreed to retain employees in at least seven posts.
However, she said the final numbers of employees who will remain in those posts are yet to be made available to the BWU. (EJ)
