Mahalia’s Corner , It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas for fans of the band 2 Mile Hill. This week, they announced a special Christmas Edition of their show Mahalia’s Corner to be held on December 9 at The Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.
2 Mile Hill will lead the special cast of performers which includes musical guest Damian Marvay and a line-up of talented Bajan singers which the group plans to roll out over the next few weeks leading up to the show.
The special staging follows on the heels of a successful September season of the popular open mic showcase, with the likes of Alison Hinds, Gabby, Ch’An, John Yarde and soca star Kerwin Dubois as featured performers.
“The Christmas Edition of Mahalia’s Corner is always special. There’s a feel to it that is unmatched,” said 2 Mile Hill front woman Mahalia.
“We are so excited about our line-up this year. We’re keeping some of it under wraps for now, but expect to see some seasoned talent and some amazing new finds taking the stage to touch our hearts with the spirit of Christmas,” she added.
Mahalia went on the say that Marvay was an obvious choice for the Christmas feature after watching him command the Corner stage during the 2016 Season.
“He was incredible. It was hard not to be wrapped up in every note. His love of music and talent are as authentic as it gets and the audience felt it,” she recounted.
The show will also feature the Open Mic segment which is the bedrock of the Mahalia’s Corner movement. Many local singers have made their start on the Corner stage and any member of the audience may sign up on the night of the show to perform.
Patrons have the option of regular seating or a premium drinks inclusive zone, and this year tickets must be pre-purchased as they will not be taking cash at the door. The show starts at 8 p.m. (PR)
