On his last theft charge he was sentenced to four months by Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant.
This time around though, Ryan Ricardo Belle could be looking at a much longer time behind bars.
After recently serving eight months at HMP Dodds, Belle, 28, of Reed Street, The City was remanded to the penal institution after pleading guilty to committing theft yet again.
When he appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court today, Belle admitted to stealing six bottles of carotone serum worth $120 from No.1 Beauty Supplies trading as Beautylicious on October 23, 2018
“The last time you came before me didn’t I sentence you to four months?” Cuffy-Sergeant asked him.
“Yeah, but I end up doing eight months,” was Belle’s response.
“Ma’am, but I was hungry. Them things cost $120 but I only sell them for $30 because I was hungry and I use the money to buy something to eat,” he added.
The magistrate then remanded him until January 4, 2019, when he will be sentenced.
The court heard from prosecutor Sergeant Cameron Gibbons that the accused went into the store, walked to the area where the items were displayed and was seen by a manager putting them in his pocket. He then walked out of the store with the items without paying for them and made his escape.
The matter was reported to police and after viewing video footage, Belle was arrested and charged.
