The Hilton Barbados Resort was transformed into a stunning display of lights and music as it held its tree lighting ceremony at the Needhams Point, St Michael headquarters on Wednesday.
Guests staying at the five-star hotel were treated to stellar performances from Barbados Talented Teen 2018 Cherece Richards. She showcased her vocals as she expertly sang The First Noel. Guests sitting in the audience cheered and whistled as she sang in her higher register effortlessly.
There was also a performance of All I Want For Christmas Is You by a member of Cloud 9 entertainment, Kofi Gilkes. He evoked the traditional Christmas feelings as he played the classic Christmas selection.
Then it was the time that everyone was waiting for – the lighting of the Christmas tree. Seven-year-old repeat guest from the US Emma Rosen along with General Manager of Hilton Barbados Tammy LeBlanc and Director of Rooms Janique Mason lit the tree which was being decorated with gold and green accents. Many guests stood in front of the tree to capture the moment.
There was no shortage of performances as violinist Aron Yearwood performed Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire.
Let us pause for a minute and appreciate the dance by the Hindsbury Juniors Dance Troupe. Dressed in back-in-time outfits, the students performed a rhythmic and creative dance to the classic Christmas Time and delighted the guests.
And if you thought the night could not get any better, the students of Hindsbury Primary School thrilled the audience again with their performance of Christmas We Eating and Christmas Happening, both of which are remakes of RPB’s songs Boat Ride and Something’s Happening.
General Manager of Hilton Barbados Resort Tammy LeBlanc said the event seeks to share love, harmony, and fun amongst family and friends.
“Christmas is a time of year that we associate with joy, expectation and wonder. It brings with it a warm glow that lights up our hearts and makes our thoughts turn to family and friendship and Christmases past. Christmas is also a time when we begin to bid farewell to one year and look forward with hope to the year ahead,” She added.
At the end of the Hilton Barbados Resort Tree Lighting Ceremony, all the performers as well as the management team sang We Wish You A Merry Christmas. (LG)
