Two days after a mysterious fire destroyed four businesses in the Ice Complex located at Hastings, Christ Church, one store owner is thanking God that only her air conditioning unit was damaged.
Zotbelle’s, which caters to hair and makeup services, was the sole business opened today, while workmen were trying to fix the damage incurred to Delish Deli, Total Convenience Mini Mart and the private office of Mama Mia’s.
Zotbelle’s owner D’Borah Blenman told Barbados TODAY that it was a miracle that her business did not have any fire damage or water damage and the only thing to be damaged by the blaze was the condenser for her air conditioning unit.
“After the fire, we regained access to the building and we thank God that we had no fire damage or water damage at all. For me, it is a miracle that that has even occurred. Because as you look at the outside we thought that we would have gotten some of the impact,” Blenman said.
“The only damage that we had was our air conditioner, the condenser that was outside and we replaced that very quickly.”
Blenman said her heart goes out to the other businesses that were severely impacted.
“We are are very happy to be in business again but we are saddened for our neighbours. There are three other businesses in the complex and they were impacted by the fire and water.”
Over at Total Convenience Mini Mart, workmen and cleaning crew were on site cleaning the inside of the building with some of the workmen outside power washing as well as replacing some of the wood which was damaged by the blaze.
Police investigations are still continuing into the circumstances around the blaze which occurred on Thursday morning around 5: 30 a.m.
