While scores of Barbadians were going about their shopping last weekend, they were treated to several pop up performances with seasonal music spreading Christmas cheer through The City as part of the Come Town Fuh Christmas project.

From Jubilee Gardens and Heroes Square to Swan Street and Broad Street and others in between, Poonka and Ruk-a-Tuk International, accompanied by folklore characters, as well as the Phoenix Pan Round the Neck group, all brought life to the whole Christmas shopping experience.

The Come Town Fuh Christmas project which is a collaboration between the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) and the Barbados Tourism Product Authority (BTPA) will climax on Friday, December 21.

The multi-activity conceptualized by the BTPA aims at rejuvenating and highlighting the UNESCO World Heritage Site – Bridgetown – after sunset as well as enhancing the island’s tourism product offerings. It will utilize all the cultural assets – waterways, museums, heritage sites & buildings, restaurants, late night shopping and entertainment.

This Friday, the event will start off with exciting strolling entertainment and climax with a fantastic three-hour free concert at Independence Square with performances from reigning 2018 Pic-O-De Crop monarch, Anderson Mr Blood Armstrong, NIFCA awardees Tavon Boyce, Cherise Richards and rising stars from the Alleyne School, Harmony. The strolling entertainment will start at 5:00 p.m. and the show is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. (PR/KK)
