Xavier Addison Carter will have to uphold a bond for nine months for the marijuana found under his pillow after police executed a search warrant at the 20-year-old’s Downes Land, St Lawrence, Christ Church residence yesterday.
When he appeared in District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court today Carter’s attorney-at-law Mohia Ma’at revealed that the first time offender had been using the drug for relief from “severe migraines”.
Ma’at pleaded for leniency for Carter who he described as an industrious young man who worked two jobs – as a fisherman and a coconut vendor.
“I start with it because I was told that it helps with the migraines,” Carter said in his defence before Magistrate Douglas Frederick placed him on a bond for nine months. If he breaches the order he will spend three months in prison.
