Home / Local News / Commuters experiencing delays amid psv strike
Commuters were this morning experiencing difficulties in Speightstown as some public service vehicle (PSV) operators go on strike on the first day of the new school term. (KS)
Only Speightstown??? About 20 psv vehicles parked up in Eagle Hall.
The operators refusing to move commuters from point A to point B.
The operators are taking a leaf out of MARY REDMAN’S BOOK.they are disrupting service at the beginning of the school term just like BSTU did.
squeeze some testicles fellas!!!
I got to say the tail really wagging the dog here. Owners assuming you all are in control, you don’t think it is time you all step in on this or are you all prepared to keep your vans parked with bank payments due? You all really cant expect us the public to view you all as business people and a viable option for the privatisation of a transport board! I think you need first to show us that at the very least you have control of your staff, if in fact you do that is. If it wasn’t for the disruption this is causing the public it would be a truly laughable situation.
Anybody know if Maurice Lee know about the strike? Haven’t hear a word from him. Why just recently he was saying and I quote ” the majority of the drivers and conductors are good employees and we will weed out the bad apples.” Really Mr Lee cause from where I sit that comment is comical. Look to me you got a good few renegades on your payroll still. Assuming of course you paying them and they not paying you. Lol. Which in turn takes me back to my original question who really in charge here???
I know Mr LEE and not really talking bad but he aint no saint when it comes to money matters, he would get the PSV drivers to stay off d road, he is one them combermere old guys, dont trust him, he talk pretty and then turn coat, i know he and his family for years, his brothers the late junior lee and the other brother , wont be surprise if he got a hand in this, MIA dont let up, its time them PSV DRIVERS AND OWNER GET THEM ACT TOGETHER,, cause i cant understand how a PSV OWNER COULD KNOW HIS DRIVER GINE COURT FOR BRAKING THE LAWS AND DONT TALK TO HIM, AND HE CONTINUES TO GO COURT MONTH AFTER MONTH AND YOU STILL KEEP HIM, WHICH MEANS YOU AINT CARE HOW HE GET THE MONEY TO YOU EVEN IF HE KILL PPL ON THE ROAD, SO WHEN THE DRIVER DONT TURN UP FOR WORK YOU KNOW HE AT COURT, SO YOU GET THE CONDUCTOR DRIVE THE VAN, THE PERMIT SHOULD BE TAKEN AWAY NEVER TO BE REISSUED, DONT EASE UP MIA
Roger that is my point how can we the public ever consider privatizing our transport board into the hands of these owners when they can’t even control their staff? It is time the renewal of these permits contains a clause that views the holder of the permit to be viewed as providing an essential service. Failure therefore to supply this service would then become a breach of the condition and hence the permit will be automatically revoked. Of course to do this one would need owners capable of running their businesses and by detention able to dictate policy to their staff. Right now we have a wild west situation with no Sherriff on town!
Definition not detention. Dam spell check.
If you have a vehicle…Give your neighbor(s) a ride…Pick up folks going in your direction at the bus stop…Start carpooling and show them who’s boss…Let them stay parked in Eagle Hall until the cows come home.
Two strikes in 8 months.
Barbados is behind you PSV operators.
Shut down the Island PSV operators. Transportation strikes have brought countries to their knees.
Dont give in until all of your demands have been met. Every single one. You are operating from a position of strength.
people forget transport board workers strike twice in 2018 and numerous times before and nobody say a bad word. I don’t support the strike today because the meeting with the Transport Authority was rescheduled so they had no proper grievence that could not be trashed out at that meeting.
Are the DLP Yard ducks serious right now? what wunna cackling bout now? You all would support indifference and disorder that put people’s lives at risk just to not support the Government? What a stupid, selfish and irrational bunch you are, Your continual comments are proof of this. Do you not understand that you are decreasing your party’s very slim chance of a revival with every foolish and misplaced comment you post? You are making people hate the DLP even more if that was even possible. @ Fake News etc.
wat do these opinions have to do with the dlp..if a blp supporter backed the strike could i blame the blp? how petty can we get
.strikes are never the best thing..
Guess the roads were a little safer today
