The fourth season of the Barbados Cricket Supplies U13 Competition bowls off today at various grounds with play in all matches set to commence at 12 noon. This will be the 11th season overall for this tournament which started back in 2009.
Five-time champions Fusionz Boutique Passage Juniors under their successful head coach Richard Clarke will oppose Isolation Cavaliers Juniors in their first round match at Passage Road and would be looking once again to add some more silverware to their collection.
Passage Juniors have retained a number of the players who played in last year’s final such as Saschen Marshall, Edwin Currency-Barnett and Zachary Alexander to name a few.
2018 runners-up Empire Juniors matching up against BWUCCU Northern Cricket Academy ‘B’ at Bank Hall will have from last years’ final the experience of Antwan Dowridge-Gill, Dre Springer and N’tari Haynes to add much strength to their team and not only reach their second finals, but also win the championship. Jason Haynes will once again be in charge of their coaching.
This BCS competition continues to be a great stepping-stone for a number of  young cricketers who have gone on to represent not only the Barbados junior and senior level but also the West Indies and CPL teams.
Kudos must be given to all of the sponsors who come out and give their invaluable support not only to the tournament but to the teams as well.
The tournament has 16 teams divided into two zones.
Windward CC under the coaching of YMPC’s batsman Ryan Wiggins is the new addition to the tournament this year.
Pickwick will once again be fielding two teams (Pickwick Griffins and Pickwick Juniors) along with Northern Cricket Academy and Carlton (Carlton Cubs and Desmond Haynes Young Lions).
YMPC Juniors and Hoytes Juniors have taken a break from the tournament this year and it is hoped that they will return in 2020.
