Consistent arguments over who gets to pick up their child from school landed a 34-year-old man before the law courts.

Rene Valentine Forde, of Lot 512 West Terrace Gardens, St James, pleaded guilty to assaulting Shawnette Roberts, the mother of his child, on March 12 occasioning her actual bodily harm.

According to Police Constable Kenmore Phillips the two had an argument over the phone on the March 12 and Roberts demanded that the child be returned home. Forde complied and drove over but the argument resumed on reaching Roberts’ house.

During the argument Forde closed the door of the car on Robert’s hand and the two began to fight. She fell to the ground and Forde began kicking Roberts about the body. The two were parted when a third party intervened. The matter was reported and Forde turned himself over to police yesterday.

After hearing the facts Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant adjourned the case to March 21 when Roberts is expected to appear in the No. 2 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court.

Forde is on $1,000 bail in the meantime.
