Mia Mottley
Prime Minister Mia Mottley will attend several important meetings in Canada and the United States of America over the next week.
The Prime Minister has been invited by McGill University in Montreal, Canada, to meet with some of its senior representatives to discuss deepening the relationship between the Bellairs Research Institute and Government.
The Prime Minister is keen on facilitating a more meaningful involvement of the Bellairs Research Institute in Government’s Roof-to-Reefs project, in particular the reefs’ component, where the aim is to regenerate the coral reefs primarily on the island’s west coast. This project is part of Government’s overall strategy with respect to climate adaptation and mitigation in response to climate change.
During her visit to Canada, Mottley will also participate in town hall meetings with the Barbadian diaspora in Montreal and Toronto. In Toronto, the Prime Minister will continue discussions which the Government has been having with major financial institutions and accounting firms. She has also been invited by Canadian limited liability partnership, BDO Canada LLP, to deliver the keynote address at the Annual Tax Executives Institute Professional Development Day in Toronto, on Wednesday, April 10.
The Prime Minister, in her capacity as Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs and Investment, will then travel to Washington, DC, to attend the 2019 Annual Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, from April 10 to 14.
These meetings will bring together central bankers, ministers of finance and development, private sector executives, officials from civil society organizations and academics to discuss issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, poverty eradication, and economic development and finance.
These meetings will afford Mottley an opportunity to meet with some key officials of the World Bank and the IMF, in addition to private financial institutions.
The Prime Minister’s delegation will include Minister of Maritime Affairs and the Blue Economy, Kirk Humphrey; Director of Finance and Economic Affairs, Ian Carrington; and Governor of the Central Bank of Barbados, Cleviston Haynes.

Roy Morris Rape Charge Disappears
Back on Tuesday, August 14, 2007, veteran journalist Roy Morris was charged with rape by the Royal Barbados Police Force. He was released on bail after appearing in court.
As BFP detailed in a series of articles, Morris had been on the run from the police while wanted for the alleged rape of a young 16 year old woman who may have been an intern at The Nation News.
Barbados Free Press and Barbados Underground broke the story over a month before Morris surrendered to police.
On Monday, July 23, 2007, sources within the Nation News contacted Barbados Free Press and informed us that Associate Managing Editor Roy Morris had been asked for his resignation after an alleged sexual impropriety with a female several days earlier. We were also informed us that Mr. Morris was nowhere to be found and that the entire matter was being hushed up by both the Nation News and the Royal Barbados Police Force.
BT I am calling on you once again to do something about the standards in relation to the behaviour that is allowed on this thread.Harry Turnover behaviour is not acceptable. His personal attacks and name calling will make people believe that a significant number of persons in Barbados have a very low IQ that prevents them from being able to express themselves in an acceptable manner.
I no longer get angry with Harry...i pity him. He seems to get giddy pleasure in insulting people. He doesnt seem to know any better...obviously his mother if she is alive would be very disappointed in him
greenMOUTgiant... are YOU an IDIOT?you CANNOT say that the Government NOT YET IN OFFICE a YEAR has broken EVERY PROMISE when they have FOUR MORE YEARS in which to fulfill those promises...THEN and ONLY THEN will YOU or ANYBODY be able to judge...ya FOOL.
Are you telling me that if SONYFAIR was to purchase a dildo on a 5 year HIRE PURCHASE agreement with a PROMISE to pay 50 cents every month that after paying for a year that she would be breaking her promise and the people gine come back for the dildo? you only meking that HYPOCRITE get NERVOUS now.
@Carl Harper: You and your party finds it difficulty to accept constructive criticism.
All you repeat about the U P P does not change the fact that your B L P has broken every promise made in your manifesto. Nothing you say will change that, and I'll continue to expose the failings, and deceit of this government.
just try and remember everything that's going on with M&M .in the next couple of years u will know direction you want to fly in .
Give the woman a chance The government is still young
By the way, how is Mia''s new fangle press secretary, ""doggie"" Morris doing these days???
And what about jung or jang, the Chiney man?? We all thought he was her ""press Secretary""??? seems like the only thing he does these days is to draw a BIG FAT SALARY from the Barbados Treasury and the Treasuries of two other Caribbean countries.
..and of course STALE MEAT PATTY and her fellow HYPOCRITE SONYFAIR and their PLETHORA of FOWL COCKS will now come out of the woodwork to castigate me as though harry turnover k any ting bout DEM to tell DEMSELVES that I should RESPECT their VIEWS as though they respect those views that are not in sync with theirs.
All ya should LEARN by HEART the following PHRASE......to EARN RESPECT ,one MUST SHOW RESPECT.
Allya DEJECTED,REJECTED and MISERABLE lot DO NOT RESPECT THE VIEWS OF ANYTHING THAT HAS BLP WRITTEN ON IT...but want me to RESPECT THEIR VIEWS ,wunna cannot see that attitude STINKS of HYPOCRISY?...allya need to go and get a WARM GOLDEN SHOWER cause wunna SPITTING in the air too
....and what are the DEMOCRATIC LABOR PARTY plans to celebrate their up and coming anniversary?
The last time a BARBADIAN PRIME MINISTER went to CANADA he announced to all and sundry with glee that the people here do not like CHRIS SINCKLER and his PLETHORA of FAILURES to get the ECONOMY UP and RUNNING was because he went to the GARRISON...and that was after the COUNTRY was approaching 23 DOWNGRADES.
He went ALL the way to CANADA to inform BAJANS that was the REASON BARBADOS was in DIRE STRAITS....that he saw NOTHING WRONG with what CHRIS SINCKLER was doing and that he had EVERY CONFIDENCE IN HIM.
That NONSENSE was of course LACED with extracts and phrases of MEDIEVAL LATIN.
Understood some people who were not in the habit of traveling long distances LEFT their homes for his next address to whoever just to see the what manner of man would leave a place so far south to go so far north to be so childish and out of depth with what was going on.
Even those BAJANS in CANADA including MANY DLPites were DISAPPOINTED in their PRIME MINISTER back then and had EVERY CONFIDENCE in their fellow BAJANS back home that his team would have been WIPED CLEAN OFF THE POLITICAL LANDSCAPE OF BARBADOS.
Canadians will NOW have the opportunity to see a REAL Prime Minister in action once more.
