On the cusp of the Xhosa Barbados launch for Crop Over 2019, the award-winning Barbadian Kadooment band is taking the Crop Over experience to the Spanish party isle of Ibiza this May.
Ibiza, well known for its nightlife, club scene, and idyllic beaches will be transformed to become the ultimate Caribbean Carnival street party for the first time by Xhosa Barbados.
The Ibiza Soca Festival introduces Xhosa Barbados to Europe to bring the authentic Caribbean Carnival experience to Spain, with its own special mix of sun, soca and sand. “This year’s soca festival will include a full costume street party and music experience ‘revolutionizing the Ibiza season, from just a club party scene to embracing the real SOCA ‘fete’ the Caribbean is renowned for,” says the Festival Producer. “There is no other place to be on May 12 to sample how Barbados does it,” he added.
Festival-goers can also look forward to some of the world’s top soca artistes and internationally renowned DJs in Europe.
Bandleader of Xhosa Barbados Jeremy Nicholls says “This is a fantastic opportunity for Xhosa, Barbados and the Caribbean. This island (Ibiza) attracts the young, the young at heart, who loves music, island life, and a good party. Everyone knows about Barbados but they have no real idea what we have to offer. Crop Over is our competitive advantage and this little taste will leave them wanting for more and encourage them to join the full experience here.”
Essence Magazine has named the Ibiza Soca Festival in its top Seven Soca Filled Events That Should Be On Your Radar in 2019.
Xhosa Barbados is Barbados’ top party band. With beautifully designed, dazzling, colourful costumes for ladies and men, they are the top troupe on parade for the last four years, winning Best Party Band, Large Band of the Year, Best Presentation and Most Colourful Large Band at Grand Kadooment.
