An online shopping business has announced its closure at month-end, blaming “financial challenges” in moving small packages to Barbadian customers.
But in a note to customers, Cargo Solutions International (Barbados) Limited said its small package online service, Sky Express, did not elaborate on the nature of its problems.
“Over the last few years we have been constantly reviewing our ‘small package’ online service which we offer to the Barbados market.
“For our organisation, this online sector has been filled with financial challenges for us, which we have been unable to successfully address, despite significant efforts.
“It has unfortunately become necessary for us to discontinue this online shopping business effective May 31, 2019. The cutoff date for online shopping and purchases via our company will be May 15, 2019, which will give customers two weeks to have their deliveries made.”
Management said the decision was not taken lightly, adding that the time was now for a business decision to be taken.
The Harbour Road, St Michael company did not say how many staff members would be affected.
Besides its internet shopping service, the company said it would continue to provide customs brokerage, personal and household goods clearance and commercial cargo services.
