Senior officials in Government who are members of the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) are invited to a senior level meeting which will be held on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. at their Dalkeith Road, St Michael Headquarters.

Acting Deputy General Secretary of the NUPW Wayne Walrond told Barbados TODAY the meeting will cater to: “Senior and middle management staff within the public service and statutory boards which includes permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, administrative officers, senior technical officers and persons that manage heads of units.

The meeting is discuss “normal issues” related to workers’ terms and conditions of service, he said.

“It will discuss issues related to the public service, the establishment of a new committee of management and any other business within all the other issues workers will want to raise,” he said.

Walrond said while the meeting is not set to address the concerns of workers in relation to the recently passed Public Workers Retrenchment Amendment Bill 2019, but senior officers who have a grievance to air may do so before the meeting.

“If the senior level staff so desire to raise any concerns with that that could be one of the issues that they are free to place in the sphere of discussions . . . any issues or concerns that they want to discuss could be placed for discussion,” he said.
