A small crowd turned up at the Dome Mall’s Food court to watch what was an evenly battled competition. It must be noted that the artistes who showed up were all phenomenal in their own right. Founder of Honey Jam Barbados Ebonnie Rowe said that though she is blown away by the talent this year, once again she is appealing for sponsorship for the cause. “I was really pleased as it is about quality and not quantity. I always worry every year as it it nine years now that we have seen every one and today showed that there is more talent. We are appealing for sponsorship for the workshops. In the current economic climate in Barbados it is challenging to keep initiatives like this going which are non profit. So we rely on funding from Government and corporate Barbados. We are appealing for assistance so that we can continue to create opportunities for young creatives.” Artistes such as Kemba Bobb who sang Running and Adreen McClean who sang I Have Nothing really stood out in vocal abilities. Yahandje Daniel who sang Remedy also gave a stellar performance. Shamera King-Charles showed off in range as she sang Flashlight. Tateanna Burgess sang Wait a Minute and carried a jazzy vibe. Twenty-five-year-old Chrystal Browne who sang Figures was also a fierce contender. Rising star, Amber Barrow, with her unique voice showed versatility in playing the piano and singing. Rowe added that she was looking to create entertainment ambassadors for Barbados. “We would like them to get around to networking and educational opportunities.” (MR) You Might Be Interested In Crystal Beckles-Holder, 2nd runner up in regional competition Lights, camera, flash!
