On February 22nd and 23rd, 25 experts from nine countries will get together for two informative days on Medical Cannabis, at the 2nd Annual Barbados Medical Cannabis Conference held in collaboration with the Barbados Medicinal Cannabis Licensing Authority (BMCLA) and the University of the West Indies – Cave Hill.
This incredible line up features international celebrity Cheryl Shuman, Founder of the Beverly Hills Cannabis Club as a keynote speaker. As a cancer survivor, Cheryl has an inspirational personal story around medical cannabis and in the business world, she is a powerhouse and is an inspirational role model for female entrepreneurs.
Day 1 of the event has a two-fold focus with a look at the medical aspects in the morning session and cultivation and genetics to be discussed in the afternoon. The aim is to show those interested in the medicinal cannabis industry what medical cannabis actually is, how to grow it and what quality standards and considerations need to be factored into a medical program.
Featured speakers on Day 1 include Master Cultivator, Shlomo Booklin and international regulatory expert David Hyde. There will also be an introduction to the BMCLA by its Chief Executive Officer, Dr Shantal Munro-Knight, who will speak to the vision of a patient-led approach to the legalization of medicinal cannabis in Barbados.
Day 2 of the event is focused around business and economic growth, capital investments and opportunities – very specifically engineered for the Caribbean. The agenda for Day 2 aims to show very practically how Barbadians can participate in the medicinal cannabis industry and what business opportunities there are, outside of just growing.
The featured speakers for Day 2 include Michael Patterson, Chief Executive Officer, US Cannabis Pharmaceutical Research and Development, Bridgette Hoffer, Co-Founder of Marigold PR and Marcus Ramkissoon, certified cannabis expert as well as panels of Barbados business experts from Barbados Internal Business Association (BIBA), the BMCLA and Invest Barbados. An exceptional presentation by Jeff Doctor, Chief Executive Officer of Turtle Island Corporation will also be given on Indigenous development and opportunity in the cannabis industry.
Additionally, the BMCLA will sponsor ten small farmers, who own up to one acre of land, and are interested in getting involved in the medicinal cannabis industry to attend both days of the conference.
