On the precincts of the Supreme Court complex back in January a 51-year-old man twice threatened to shoot a policer officer. And starting tonight Junior Anderson Grafton Yarde, who has no fixed place of abode, will now call Her Majesty’s Prison Dodds home for the three months.

Magistrate Douglas Frederick imposed the sentence today after Yarde, who has a history with the court, pleaded guilty to telling constable Lasonta Scantlebury, “You can’t arrest me. I would shoot you.”

Station Sergeant Crishna Graham said Scantlebury went to the White Park Road, St Michael complex on January 29 to conduct business. She parked her vehicle and on returning to the car park saw Yarde looking into a car there. She kept him under observation before informing him to leave the area.

Yarde issued the threat then and refused to leave. He repeated the same threat a second time when told to leave again.

When first asked whether he wanted to address the court Yarde said he had nothing to say. He however apologised after the magistrate told him that he was before the court again for engaging in foolishness.

“You battling with some issues and need some rest,” Frederick told the known offender who responded: “Okay sir”.

However, Yarde’s legal challenges are not over as he has to appear in the District ‘C’ Magistrates’ Court on March 12 to answer the charge that he stole $4 in cash belonging to Paul Woodall on January 7.
