Owners of the Tent Bay, St Joseph establishment said they have recorded substantial loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The statement posted on their social media page reads: “We have sustained a massive number of cancellations in both the hotel and the restaurant, which is unprecedented in our years of operation. This represents a colossal loss of business, which was not forecast, but which we expect to worsen over the next two months.” However, management said that they are hoping to reopen the Atlantis Restaurant for their popular Sunday Buffet Lunch on Easter Sunday, April 12 and Mother’s Day May 10. “This is of course subject to the guidance provided by Barbados’ Ministry of Health and Wellness, on the development and spread of COVID-19, and what steps should be taken by businesses such as ours” the proprietors said. Since issuing this notice Friday, the Ministry of Health announced on Saturday that the country is now at Stage, 2 which means there should be no “non-essential” gathering of more than 25 people.
