The meeting with major retailers and distributors across the island also saw members from the group unanimously agreeing to pledge support for a clear declaration that price gouging would not be practised or tolerated. Acting Director of the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Bertram Johnson noted that Government would work with the local business community to maintain a pricing regime that allows for a stable structure. Members of the group agreed in principle to hold prices of the Covid-19 Critical Stock List at pre Covid-19 levels as Government seeks to give support to offset any increases from overseas suppliers due to increases in global demand for these products.
