The smart phones, which were obtained through the support of Digicel Barbados, were received by Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr Anton Best. Dr Best revealed that the 40 Samsung Galaxy A01 smart phones were being distributed to the public health teams involved in contact tracing and monitoring persons in quarantine. He expressed the Ministry’s gratitude to the private sector body for the generous donation, which he said would greatly enhance the teams’ ability to reach those persons who may have potentially been impacted by COVID-19. Contact tracing, he explained, was a critical measure in containing the spread of the viral illness. Chairman of the Barbados Private Sector Association, Edward Clarke, said that the private sector recognized its responsibility to the people of Barbados as the country navigated this public health emergency, and was committed to doing everything it could to assist the Government in overcoming the challenges.
