Consuming alcohol on Saturday afternoon in a bid to cope with personal issues did not result in a positive outcome for a 43-year-old man.
In fact, Jameson Russell Gregory Barrow, of 5th Avenue Holders Land, Brandons, St Michael revealed that he was “pissing drunk” on May 8 when he damaged a motor van belonging to Silvia Browne-Niles without lawful excuse.
“I duh drunk out of my mind,” the first-time offender told Magistrate Graveney Bannister this morning in explaining his actions on the day. He has vowed to stay away for alcohol from now onwards.
“I accept full responsibility for my actions. It was a pint and a half ESA Fields that is what I does drink. But I don’t drink no more, I can’t afford it.
“I am going through some emotional problems right now . . . I can’t get in contact with my son. I thought I was controlling it but the alcohol showed me that I wasn’t. So, I need to keep away from the alcohol. I rather my son than alcohol. I done drinking,” Barrow said.
In reading the facts Sergeant Edwin Pinder revealed Browne-Niles’ vehicle was parked at the mechanic along 2nd Avenue Holders Land, Brandons, St Michael for repairs. Barrow who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol approached, grabbed hold of the rear windshield wiper, broke it off and threw it away.
The police were summoned when he became aggressive and on arrival they found Barrow lying in the road.
He must now compensate the complaint $250 by Friday, May 15 or spend 25 days in prison.
Before he was allowed to leave Magistrate Bannister advised Barrow: “Stop your lawlessness.”
