Twenty-five-year-old former Nation photojournalist Christoff Griffith was murdered by an assailant while reporting on the death of 51-year-old Glenroy James at Bishopโs Court. In a statement from Communications and Marketing Officer of the Alliance Owners of Public Transport (AOPT), Mark Haynes, the body said it was regretful that their lives were taken in that manner. โOn behalf of the AOPT I shall like to join the management and staff of the Nation and the entire membership of the journalistic fraternity in extending our profound condolences on the untimely death of one of its own, Mr Christoff Griffith, whose life was taken in a very horrific mannerย in the execution of his duties. โAdditionally, our sympathies are hereby extended to his personal family who no doubt are mourning the personal loss of a loved one whose career was brutally brought to an abrupt end. As a relatively young man it was most unfortunate that his dreams and journalistic aspirations could no longer be fulfilled,โ the statement read. โThese sentiments of sympathy are also extended to the family and friends of Mr Glenroy James who was working at the former residence of the Anglican Bishop of Barbados.
