2 Mile Hill, returns to the stage this Saturday, July 11, 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. at Copacabana Beach Club for Back 2 Life, a summer beach party featuring live performances from 2 Mile Hill, Nikita, Mole, Mikey, Faith Callendar, and deejays DMZ and RocFresh Movement.
The band, which has been on an almost fourth-month-long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, said they decided to have the event in equal parts for their fans and equal parts for themselves.
Frontwoman Mahalia said that for them performing is life-giving and during the lock down times it was like their lives were literally on pause. They weren’t even able to get together for jam sessions due to quarantine restrictions. “So this event is like jump-starting our hearts again,” she explained.
“I’m beyond excited, a little anxious and nervous to get back on stage. Ready to shake off that little bit of lockdown rust and share some good vibes, “Mahalia said.
The event, which will have a limited number of patrons and strict safety protocols in effect, including temperature scans at the door and hand sanitiser stations, has been met with a good response so far. Many music lovers have taken to the band’s social media to express their excitement at the prospect of experiencing live music again.
On the importance of the entertainment industry, especially in times like this, Mahalia said she believes that music and art are really important on many levels, but especially for mental health.
“The 2020 experience has proven that,” she insisted. “Now that we have the opportunity to reconnect with music I believe it can only be positive for all of us.” (PR)
