The Barbados Meteorological Services is monitoring an area of low pressure centered near 10.5N 35W at 3 p.m.
This feature is associated with a tropical wave some 2685 miles or 1668 kilometers to the east of Barbados.
The Met Office said the system is forecast to track westward to west-northwestward at 10 to 15miles-per-hour (15 to 25 km/h) over the next few days. They warn that conditions are somewhat favorable for some slow development of this system over the next 48 hours. After which, dry air entrainment is currently forecast to impede any additional development and may well lead to weakening before the system reaches Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean.
The system is forecast to reach the area as an open wave (Tropical wave) sometime on Friday/Saturday.
The Met Office has advised residents to monitor the situation over the next few days.
It will issue the next update tomorrow at 12 noon or sooner if conditions warrant.
