A flash-flood warning is issued when flooding due to heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time ( generally less than 6 hours ) is occurring or is imminent in the warning area. Some sections of Barbados have recorded almost 2 inches (50 mm) of rainfall throughout the day as the leading edge of a tropical wave began to affect the island. This tropical wave in combination with the ITCZ is expected to affect the island overnight and therefore, unsettled conditions will persist into tonight.
