The matter came up for hearing before Justice Randall Worrell today when Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Alliston Seale made it clear that he was ready to proceed with his mitigation. However, Samuelโs attorney-at-law Mohia Maโat asked for more time to have a โone-on-oneโ with his client before the case proceeds. It was granted. Back in November Samuel was found guilty of killing Charley Dume. The 12-member jury that heard the evidence was unable to reach a unanimous verdict on murder after over four hours of deliberations and close to a month-long trial. However, ten jurors agreed that Samuel, of Grape Hall, St Lucy was guilty of manslaughter, in the shooting death of 25-year-old Charley Dume on April 26, 2014. Dume was killed at Coyoteโs Den Bar located at the corner of Nelson Street and Wellington Street. During the trial the pathologist who conducted the postmortem revealed that Dumeโs body had seven โentryโ wounds and five โexitโ wounds which were consistent with gunshot injuries. Death was due to multiple organ failures and hemorrhagic shock due to multiple gunshot wounds. Barbados Today Stay informed and engaged with our digital news platform.
